The authentic farm spring sap collecting experience you’ve always dreamed of for your family! Conveniently planned for the Friday of March Break so your whole family can enjoy it.
The event kicks off with a tractor & wagon ride down our country lane and stops alongside a row of stately maples where everyone is welcome to hop off the wagon and help collect the sap. Everyone is given a pail, and young and old alike run excitedly from tree to tree collecting this treasured liquid.
After emptying all the pails into the faithful little trailer trundling behind the wagon, we all climb aboard the wagon again and head down the road to a neighbouring farm where some grand ole maples march down both sides of the lane. When everyone has collected sap to their hearts content, we once again pile into the wagon and with our sap in tow we head for Meadow Song Sugar Shack!
Clouds of steam billow from the sap shanty as the evaporater hums quietly. The sap inside pitches and rolls in a churning boil as it concentrates into the delicious syrup we all love. Of course everyone needs to try a sample of fresh maple syrup after watching the fascinating process and hearing some of the science behind it.
Before we head home to the farm store again, everyone gets a chance to fill a small jar with fresh, warm syrup. The perfect souvenir for the occasion!
Once we arrive back at the home base, everyone is free to spend time how they choose, browsing Meadow Song Market our farm store/gift shop, relaxing and enjoying the fresh farm air and scenery, or best yet… purchasing a meal of some of our Maple Breakfast Sausages from our Pastured Pork and Organic Ancient Grain Pancakes lathered with, of course… FRESH MAPLE SYRUP!
Remember, this is a genuine working farm so please come dressed accordingly! Rubber boots are a great idea for while on the tour. And we will be dealing with the delightfully unpredictable spring weather so a raincoat and umbrella is not a bad idea.
Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate pets as this could cause conflict with the farm animals. Service animals are exempt.
