Details: At Meadow Song Farms, we have a radically different way of farming. Our animals are intensely grazed on lush pastures, which requires moving them to fresh pasture almost every day! On select days we open our farm to give you a taste of the joy of farming. This tour is not a generic presentation or staged display. This is a rare chance to roll up your sleeves and try your hand at farming for a day!
The adventure starts as we board the wagon and rumble out the farm lane. Our animals are grazing on rented land all over the neighbourhood, and when we arrive at each flock or herd, everyone gets to pile off and learn the art of pasturing animals. After going over the basics of moving fences, everyone gets to try their hand at setting up some fence by themself. When the fence has all been set up, we open the gates to allow the animals to gallop into their fresh pasture. At the poultry pasture, everyone is welcome to try their hand at moving the coops. Experience the joy of turning animals onto fresh pasture for yourself!
When we arrive back at the home base, you’re on your own time! Help yourself to a homemade farmers meal, available for purchase on site, take a rest under a shade tree to the sound of farm noises or browse through Meadow Song Market, our farm store/gift shop.
Remember to dress like a farmer! Rubber boots are a great idea as we work in the animal pastures.
Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate your pets on this event, service animals are exempt.
